App Store Optimization (ASO)
App Store Optimization (ASO) is the practice of improving an app's visibility and conversion inside the Apple App Store and Google Play. It covers two jobs: getting found (ranking for searches and appearing in browse and featured surfaces) and getting chosen (turning listing views into installs). The levers are metadata (title, subtitle or short description, keyword field, description), creative assets (icon, screenshots, preview video), ratings and reviews earned from real users, localization, and the install and engagement signals the stores observe. ASO is ongoing rather than one-time: competitors change their listings, store algorithms shift, and seasonal demand moves search volume. A good ASO workflow tracks keyword ranks daily, tests creative, watches competitors, and spends acquisition budget only where a ranking gain is realistic.
